FRN (Firm Reference Number)

A unique identifier assigned by the FCA to every authorised financial services firm in the UK.

An FRN (Firm Reference Number) is a unique number assigned by the Financial Conduct Authority to every firm it authorises or registers. It can be used to look up any firm's authorisation status, permissions, and regulatory history on the FCA's Financial Services Register at register.fca.org.uk.

Spark Finance's FRN is 958123. You can verify this on the Financial Services Register at register.fca.org.uk. Checking a firm's FRN before engaging with them is a simple way to confirm they are FCA registered and not operating illegally or as a clone of a legitimate firm. Note that FCA registration as a credit broker does not mean every transaction the firm handles is a regulated activity - most business lending to UK limited companies falls outside regulated activities.

Authorised firms have specific regulatory permissions (for example, 'credit broking' or 'consumer credit lending'). A firm's FRN entry will show exactly which activities they are permitted to carry out, which can be useful for confirming that their services are appropriate and legal.
