Julian Dobbin

Julian Dobbin is CEO and co-founder of Spark Finance. He brings over 20 years of corporate finance, M&A, and operational leadership experience to the business, having previously served as a chartered accountant and corporate finance partner, CFO, interim CEO, and managing director across multiple sectors.

Julian co-founded Spark Finance in 2016 after experiencing first-hand the frustration of raising business finance for a company he was restructuring. He saw an opportunity to use technology to make business borrowing faster, more transparent, and more accessible for UK SMEs.

Under his leadership, Spark Finance has grown to a team of 25+ people, facilitated over £200 million in business finance for more than 2,000 UK businesses, and won Business Moneyfacts Best Use of Technology in SME Finance three years running.

Julian holds oversight responsibility for FCA compliance, editorial standards, and the accuracy of financial information published by Spark Finance. All major claims about rates, products, and lender capabilities are reviewed against current lender data before publication.
